Is Tennoji & Shinsekai safe?
Tennoji around the station and Abeno Harukas is safe and family-friendly. Neighboring Shinsekai is a lively retro district that is fine by day; at night it gets rowdier and borders areas best avoided after dark (see our Nishinari guide).
Getting around from Tennoji & Shinsekai
Tennoji is a major junction of JR, two subway lines and the Kintetsu railway, with a direct airport express. Hotels here are noticeably cheaper than Namba or Umeda.
